Already have an existing floor plan you want to work with? Just import the plan and draw over it in the magicplan app!
If you have an existing floor plan, you don't have to start from scratch. Use "Import and draw" with an iOS or Android device by following these steps:
- Go to the home screen and tap the plus sign (+) to create a new project.
- Then tap on the plus sign (+) on the screen to add a new floor.
- Once a floor has been added, tap on "+ Add", then "Room" and select "Import and draw".
You can either take a picture with your device or select one from your photo library.
ℹ️ Note: App permissions have to be enabled both for your device's camera and storage if you wish to use this feature. Usually, the permission request pops up in the app when you try to import a picture. If not, go to your device's settings, scroll down to magicplan and tick the appropriate boxes.
ℹ️ Note: magicplan will not create a floor plan automatically for you as soon as you have imported the picture.
Set the Scale
Once the picture is imported, you will be prompted to "place the scale on a known measurement". Use the blue symbol to extend and move the dotted line onto the known measurement in your image. Tap "Done" and either enter the dimension manually or connect a laser in order to measure it on site.
⚠️ Caution: You cannot change the scale after creating your floor plan, so be sure to set the scale with a known measurement.
Now you can start adding more rooms!
- Simply tap "+Add", then "Room".
Choose between adding a square room and then adjusting its dimensions or mapping the room by defining corners. Assemble the rooms to complete your floor plan and voilà - you're done!
💡 Tip: You can easily switch between hiding or showing the image in the background of your completed floor plan by tapping on 'hide image' or 'show image'. Depending on what you have selected, the image will either be displayed or not displayed in your floor plan report when you choose to export the project.
