Import and Digitalize an Existing Floor Plan

You already have an existing floor plan you want to work with? Just import the plan and draw over it!

If you have an existing floor plan, you don't have to start from scratch. Import a floor plan and draw over it. This is how it works:
  1. Go to the home screen.
  2. Tap on “New Project”.
  3. Tap on 'Add Room', select “Import and Draw” and then the floor.
  4. You can either take a picture or select one from an album
Hint: Please keep in mind that the app permissions have to be enabled both for camera and storage if you wish to use this feature. Usually, the permission request pops up in the app when you try to import a picture. If not, just go to your phone's or tablet's settings, scroll down to magicplan and tick the appropriate boxes.
  5. Once the picture is imported, you need to place the scale on a known measurement. Tap on done - you can now either enter the dimension manually or connect a laser in order to measure it on site.
  6. You can start drawing now. Simply tap on 'Add room' in the bottom left of the screen. You can choose between adding a square room and then adjusting its dimensions or mapping the room by defining corners.  Assemble the rooms to a complete floor plan and voilà - you're done.
Note: magicplan will not create the floor plan automatically for you as soon as you have imported the picture.

Once you are done, you can easily switch between hiding or showing the image in the background of your floor plan by tapping on 'hide image' or 'show image' on the left side of the screen.
Depending on what you have selected, the image will be displayed or not displayed in your floor plan report when you choose to export the project.
