Capture and attach videos at any level of your project—project, floor, room, wall, or object—to enhance documentation and communication.
Adding videos in magicplan gives your team valuable context at every stage of a project. Whether you're recording walkthroughs, noting specific installation needs, or highlighting issues, videos help everyone stay informed—no matter where they’re working. With magicplan’s video functionality, you can record and attach videos at any level. Videos are automatically saved to your project and appear in reports and exports as interactive, clickable media.
💡Tip: Add videos to the room-, wall- or object-level to highlight specific repairs, installations, or conditions that need to be reviewed later.
How to Record and Add a Video
You can capture videos from within the editor while documenting your project. Here’s how to get started:
Open Your Project
- Open the magicplan app and select your project.
- Add video to the project-level:
- From the Project Dashboard, tap the plus “+” icon in the Photos section to add video. You will have the option to select the floor level or room using the paperclip icon above the record/shutter button.
- Add video to floor-, room-, wall-, or object-level:
- Open a floor plan and tap into a floor, room, wall, or object to add a video associated with that specific element.
- Access the Details section for that element and tap the “Photos & Notes” tab.
- Tap the plus “+” icon to access the camera.
- Add video to the project-level:
- Tap the camera icon to start capturing content.
Switch to Video Mode
By default, the camera opens in photo mode.
- Look for the camera mode options at the bottom right of the screen.
- Tap “Video” to toggle from photo to video mode.
💡 Tip: This lets you quickly switch between snapping photos and recording videos—perfect for documenting different types of information in one session.
Record Your Video
- Tap the red record button to begin filming.
- Capture the site conditions (e.g., a leaky pipe or walkthrough explanation). You can capture as many photos and videos as needed.
- Tap “Next” in the upper right corner when you’re done documenting your project. You will then be able to review all photos and videos recorded during your session and delete media or add captions as needed.
- Tap “Save All” to save your visual documentation.
ℹ️ Note: Video duration is limited to 5 minutes long per video. You can record and save as many videos as needed, just keep each one under the time limit.
Accessing and Viewing Your Video
After recording and saving, your video will appear in the Photos & Notes tab within the Details menu of the selected level (project, floor, room, wall, or object). You will also be able to find it in your Project Dashboard in the Photos section. Videos are identified by a play icon and the duration will be displayed in the top-right corner.
💡 Tip: Videos behave like photos in the gallery—they include metadata and are easy to manage, caption, or delete within the app.
Including Videos in Reports
magicplan includes your recorded videos automatically in both Photo Reports and standard Report PDFs.
- Videos appear with a play icon and are clickable within the PDF or Web Gallery.
- When the Photo Report PDF is opened, recipients can tap the video to view it in their browser.
ℹ️ Note: Photos, 360 images, and videos are interactive, helping viewers explore all content more easily.
