Creating Floor Plans in magicplan on Your Android Device

Android users can build accurate floor plans in magicplan by drawing rooms, adding square room templates, or importing a JPG image to trace.

If you're using magicplan on an Android device, you have several flexible tools to create floor plans—even without access to Manual Scan or Auto-Scan (which are currently exclusive to iOS). Whether you want complete control over room shapes, need to start quickly with a standard layout, or prefer to trace over an existing image, there’s an option that fits your workflow. Just choose the right one for your project!

Option 1: Draw a Room Manually

Best for: Custom layouts, irregularly shaped rooms, and precise control over dimensions.

Drawing a room manually gives you the most flexibility when creating a floor plan. You can sketch any shape directly in the app and adjust each wall to match your measurements. This is especially helpful for rooms that don’t fit into a standard rectangle or square—such as open floor plans, angled walls, or multi-cornered spaces.

You’re in full control of the layout, which is ideal when accuracy matters or when you already have measurements on hand.

Option 2: Add Square Room

Best for: Fast layouts, simple floor plans, and starting from a standard shape.

The “Add Square Room” feature is a quick-start option that lets you drop a perfectly square room into your plan with a single tap. You can then adjust the dimensions to match the actual size of your space. This method is perfect when you’re mapping out basic layouts like bedrooms, offices, or storage rooms and want to get started right away.

It’s also a great option for beginners or anyone creating a draft version of a floor plan before visiting the site.

Option 3: Import & Draw (Trace Over an Image)

Best for: Digitizing existing floor plans, working from paper sketches, or planning renovations.

If you already have a sketch or printed floor plan, magicplan's "Import & Draw" feature allows you to upload a JPG image and trace directly over it. This method helps you recreate a floor plan quickly by using the image as a reference. It’s especially useful for renovation projects, converting paper plans into digital versions, or collaborating with clients who have existing diagrams.

The tracing feature helps ensure your digital plan reflects the original layout closely, while still allowing you to make precise adjustments.

ℹ️ Note: You must import a JPG file in order to use this feature. Other file types are not supported.

Method Best For Key Benefit
