Learn how to generate an ESX file in magicplan to import your project to Xactimate®️.
Integrating magicplan with Xactimate®️ can significantly streamline your workflow, making it easier to manage and share your project data. Generating an ESX file will allow you to seamlessly transfer your floor plans, measurements, and other project details from magicplan directly into Xactimate®️.
This guide will walk you through generating an ESX file for Xactimate®️ in the app and cloud.
ℹ️ Note: The magicplan integration will need to be activated by our integrations team before you can begin using it. Please reach out to our Sales Team to get your integration enabled.
Exporting in the app:
- Once you have completed your floor plan in the magicplan app, tap "Files and Sharing" on the project dashboard page.
- Scroll down to the export labeled "Verisk".
- To include photos: tap "Configure" next to the export option. You will see a toggle for photos that can be enabled and a toggle to compress your photos. For every photo included, 5 seconds will be added to the export wait time.
- Tap on the export to generate the file.
- Once the file is generated, you will be emailed a link. You can also download the file directly in the magicplan cloud.
ℹ️ Note: Xactimate® allows a maximum of 100MB of photo storage per project. If you exceed this limit, the transfer to Xactimate®️ will fail, and you will receive an error message.
- To avoid this, you can enable photo compression for the ESX File, as shown in Step 2A.
- If your photo file is still too large, you can download a zip file of your photos in magicplan and manually import them into Xactimate. See this article for instructions (scroll down to "Download from Cloud").
Exporting in the cloud:

- If you have updated the project or export's configuration, click the "Update" button to the right of the specific export type to update its files.
- Click the blue file link under the "Verisk" export to download the file.
