# How to Import a magicplan ESX File to Xactimate®
## You can upload your magicplan-generated ESX file into either Xactimate® Online or the Desktop version. This allows you to continue your estimating work seamlessly.
Once you've [generated your ESX file](https://help.magicplan.app/xactimate️-esx-file) within magicplan, you'll be able to upload the file into Xactimate® using one of the two following methods. For more information about how your magicplan project is translated into Xactimate®, head [here](https://help.magicplan.app/how-xactimate-translates-your-magicplan-sketch).
ℹ️ **Note:** magicplan's ESX files default to the "Carrier" or Insurance profile. If you need the ESX file associated with a different profile, you can switch profiles after import. Duplicate the estimate with the imported ESX file in Xactimate® first, then select the correct profile.
### **Upload to Xactimate® Online**
1. Go to Xactimate® Online and log into your account.
2. Click **"New project."**

3. In the "New project" window, select the **"Import"** tab.

4. Drag and drop your ESX file into the window, or click **"select file from computer"** to browse and upload the file, then click "Import."
5. Once uploaded, the project will be created automatically from the imported ESX.
### **Upload to Xactimate® Desktop Version**
1. Open Xactimate® on your desktop and log into your account.
2. From the left-hand menu, select **"Tools."**
3. In the "Data Transfer" section, select **"Import."**

4. Directly below the "Import" option is the "Location" box. Click the **folder icon** to browse your computer and locate your ESX file.
5. Select your ESX file and click the **"Import"** button in the lower right corner.

6. After import, a new project will be created. Select **"Local"** from the left-hand menu to find and open your project.
