How to Change a Room Name

Learn how to rename any room in your magicplan project to keep your floor plan organized and easy to navigate.

magicplan allows you to assign a room name or room type to each room when it's added to your project. You can easily customize these names at any time to better reflect the actual purpose of each space — whether you're labeling a bedroom, office, or storage area.

Follow these steps to update the name of any room in your project:

  1. Open your project in the magicplan app and navigate to the floor plan containing the room you want to rename.
  2. Tap the room you'd like to rename to select it.
  3. Access the Details section for the selected room:
    • On a tablet, tap the "i" icon in the upper right corner of the screen.
    • On a phone, swipe up from the bottom of the screen.
  4. In the Details section, tap the "Room Name" field.
  5. Clear the existing name and type your new room name.
    • You can do this by using the backspace button or by selecting "Reset Text."
  6. Confirm your entry by tapping "Save" in the upper right corner of the text box.

ℹ️ Note: If you have already exported files with the old room name, you will need to create new exports for the new name to be reflected in those documents.
