How to Lock and Unlock Dimensions in magicplan
Learn how locked dimensions work and how to easily unlock them when making changes to your floor plan.
In magicplan, dimensions automatically lock when manually adjusted. This ensures your custom measurements stay fixed while editing other parts of your plan. Here’s how to identify, lock, and unlock dimensions.
How Locked Dimensions Work
When you manually edit a dimension (like entering a custom wall length), it becomes locked. You’ll see a lock icon next to the measurement to indicate this.
Locked dimensions:
- Stay fixed when you move or assemble rooms.
- Do not automatically adjust when other connected elements change.
This helps preserve accuracy for important or verified measurements.
How to Unlock a Dimension
Start by opening the project you want to edit. From the project dashboard, select your floor level, then tap the room containing the wall you need to edit. You can unlock a dimension in two simple ways:
Option 1: Move the Wall
- Tap and drag the wall into the desired position.
- An alert message will appear — tap "Confirm" to unlock and apply the change.
💡 Tip: This method is great when you want to reposition a wall freely without entering a specific measurement.
Option 2: Use the Measurement Menu
- Tap the locked dimension directly on the floor plan.
- In the "Change Measurement" pop-up menu, tap "Unlock".
- Enter your new measurement.
- Tap "Apply" to save the change.
