      Create a Land Survey

      Use magicplan to map the outdoor space of a property.

      Magicplan not only helps you create interior floor plans, but also allows you to map and plan outdoor spaces with the Land Survey feature. When you create a land survey, you can add building layout, terrain layout, easement, street, and outdoor objects.

      The first step is to create a new floor in your project by following these steps:

      1. Open a project and tap "+ Add Floor"
      2. Select "Land Survey" as the floor type.
      3. Begin adding different elements by tapping "+Add", then "Object".

      ℹ️ Note: You can add multiple elements to your land survey. After adding one element, tap "+Add", "Object", and "Outdoors" to add others.

      Building Layout

      Building layout will create a footprint (or copy) of the ground floor dimensions of your floor plan.

      1. Select "Building Layout" from the object menu.
        1. If you have already created at least one floor in your project, you will be prompted to generate the building layout based on the ground floor or lowest level of your floor plan. Select "Yes" or "No".
        2. If you select "No", you will free form draw the layout by tapping on the grid to set the corners of the building. You can tap the corner angles that appear to change the degree.
      2. Once your building layout is created, you can change the dimensions, angles and shape by tapping "Edit Corners" on the left side editor menu.
        1. Tap the corner you want to move (the blue arrow symbol will appear) and drag your finger to move the corner
        2. Or tap the dimension and add the correct measurement.

      ℹ️ Note: It is not possible to scan the outside of a building or its surroundings with the AR Scan feature. This is restricted for interior use.  

      Terrain Layout

        Select "Terrain Layout" from the object menu.Draw the terrain layout. Tap where you want your starting point (the blue arrow symbol will appear), then tap to the next point until you've created the intended shape. 
      1. You can change the dimensions, angles and shape by tapping "Edit Corners" on the left side editor menu.
        1. Tap the corner you want to move (the blue arrow symbol will appear) and drag your finger to move the corner
        2. Or tap the dimension and add the correct measurement.

      💡 Tip: If using an iOS device, the corner angles will appear as you set each corner. You can adjust the angles as you go by tapping on an angle when it appears and entering the degree. 

      Easement

      To add an easement select "Easement" from the object menu; then, follow the same steps as terrain layout.

      To add a street select "Street" from the object menu; then, follow the same steps as terrain layout.

      Other notes to create a Land Survey:

      • Each option listed above can be combined to create a complete land survey. Additionally, you can make changes to their details, such as outline thickness, color, line type, fill shape, and display label.
      • Set the distance of the building in relation to the site boundaries, by tapping "Set distance" from the left side editor menu. Here are the steps. 
      • Add objects to your land survey. Outdoor objects include plants, trees, driveway, fence, swimming pool, shed, and more. 

      ⚠️ Caution: If you create a land survey around an interior floor plan within your project, as opposed to making it its own floor, the 3D view of your floor plan will not display correctly.
