Watch the Tutorial to see how the magicplan Estimator works

You can start creating your estimate in two different ways:

Option 1: estimate on room level

You may choose this path if the upcoming tasks in the individual rooms of your project differ.

Click on the blue + icon underneath a room name to add items assigned to a specific room.
You can either pick from the pre-defined "Projects DIY", a price list that is connected with Amazon by default, or from your custom modules and items saved to the folder "My items".

Now, you may choose all the items you want to estimate by checking the boxes. Each module (displayed in bold) contains all the materials and smaller items you have to imply in your estimation. Click on "Add" on the top right corner to add the items to the selected room.

Option 2: estimate on project level and assign items to multiple rooms

This path makes estimating a lot quicker and easier if the upcoming tasks are similar and repeat themselves for several rooms of your project.

Select the + on the project or floor level. Pick your modules or the items and select for every single item or module multiple floors and rooms to which the items should be applied to.

Add custom modules or items in the magicplan app

If you don't find everything you need in the predefined magicplan price list, you can create estimates with your own items and prices either by importing your own company‘s price list through the Cloud or by adding new modules and items to your own price list in the magicplan app.

You can add a module in two different ways:

Option 1: create a module from scratch

  • tap on any blue + icon
  • open the menu in the top right corner
  • select "create module"
  • open the module details to edit the name, description, SKU, category, and trade
  • to create a new trade, simply click on the blue + icon in the bottom right corner, enter the name and confirm with "create trade"
  • Click on "add an item" to define the content of your module
  • select the blue hook on the top right to save your changes

Option 2: Create a module by grouping existing items

You've already created your calculation and realized just now that it would actually make sense to group some of the icons into modules? No problem with the "Multiple Selection" option: to access it, simply click on the "edit" icon on the top right of your screen. Now, simply select multiple items to quickly create a module out of them

This is how you can create your own items in the magicplan app:

  • tap on any blue + icon
  • open the menu in the top right corner
  • select "create item"
  • set the name, description, SKU, pricing model, category and trade of your item
  • to create a new trade, simply click on the blue + icon in the bottom right corner, enter the name and confirm with "create trade"
  • Click on "add an item" to define the content of your module
  • select the blue hook on the top right to save your changes

You're done with the overall estimation and want to make smaller adjustments? Here is how you can delete items or modules:
To delete single modules (displayed in bold) or items, simply click on the three dots in the corresponding row and confirm the deletion.
To erase multiple modules or items, please refer to our "multiple selection" feature. To access it, simply click on the "edit" icon on the top right of your screen.

The multiple selection feature:
You have three different opportunities in this screen:

  • delete several items: mark the items and tap on delete in the top right corner
  • set as optional: if you want items or modules to be displayed in your estimate, but not shown with a price because you for instance already do have the equipment, but you want to remind yourself to prepare it, you can set the selected items as optional. Just click on  To show them with a price, just select "set as included" again
  • create a module: you can quickly select multiple items, open the menu on the top right, and tap on "Create a module".

The filter option:
You have created your estimate and are looking for related items? Just use the filter on the top right to sort your calculation by trade. The selected filter is displayed in the upper part of the screen. To delete it, simply click on the close icon.

A module always consists of several different positions. The number of subtasks is displayed next to the module name. Some of them are only optional and are therefore not automatically included in the calculation. To display all subtasks and customize a predefined module,

  • Click on the filter icon in the upper-right part of the screen
  • enable "Show all standard items in module" and tap on confirm in the upper right corner of the screen
  • if you now click on a module, you will see all subtasks
  • select "add" to add one and "delete" to delete one

Note: If a red warning sign is displayed next to one of your modules or price list items, magicplan, please enter the position details and check if a price is indicated.

Export your estimate
Once you're done with the creation of your estimate, you can either export it as a pdf document or, if you're in the UK, Germany or the US even order materials through Amazon.

  • open the project and tap on the icon next to "files and sharing" on the bottom of the screen OR open your estimate in the app and tap on the share icon on the top right of the screen
  • configure and customize your estimate by tapping on the configuration wheel next to the "Get Estimate" option
  • Click on "Get Estimate" and you will receive an email with a pdf and an Xls file of your calculation within a few seconds.

Note: Please keep in mind that the option "Get Estimate" will only be displayed if the total price of the calculation exceeds 0.
