# Measure the Distance Between Objects and Walls / Other Objects

## Measure distances between objects and walls in your floor plan.

Need to check how far apart furniture or fixtures are in your floor plan? magicplan makes it easy to measure the distance between any two objects or walls, directly within the app. Whether you're planning layouts or verifying spacing, you can measure the distance between any object and its surroundings. This is how it works:

1. Tap on an object that has already been added to your floor plan.
2. All corners of the object will be highlighted. .
3. Tap on the “Set distance” icon in the editor menu on the left side of the screen.
4. To select a starting point of your measurement, tap on any outer point of the object to select the corner you want to use to measure your distance.
5. To select the second point of your measurement, tap on a wall or corner of the room, or tap any object. The distance will automatically be displayed in your floor plan.
6. You can adjust the distance between objects or walls at any time by moving one of the objects, tapping on the displayed distance and [adjusting the measurement](https://help.magicplan.app/change-dimensions-of-your-floor-plan) manually, or [connecting a bluetooth measuring device](https://help.magicplan.app/laser-distance-meters).
